John Deere Reman to break ground on expansion

John Deere Reman Core Center in Strafford will hold a groundbreaking at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5 on its $13.5 million expansion that will add 120,000 square feet to the facility at 601 S. Highway 125.

John Deere Reman remanufactures engines, transmissions, axles, hydraulics, engine components, and electronics products to deliver like-new performance at a lower cost, with reduced environmental impact. The company employs more than 500 people and operates out of five different locations in the area.

The expansion project will be managed by Q & Company. The design team includes Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective, Miller Engineering, and Olsson.

McMonigle and Bradford have joined OMB Bank.

OMB Bank reported that Courtney McMonigle has been added to its compliance division as the new BSA/AML officer, whereas Katie Bradford has recently become part of the bank’s mortgage unit in Springfield, taking up the role of mortgage loan officer.

McMonigle She started her banking journey in 2003 as a senior personal banker at Bank of America located in Chesterfield, Missouri. The following year, 2004, saw her moving to Regions Bank where she took up the role of an assistant vice president and branch sales manager in St. Louis. Later, in 2007, she became an assistant vice president and banking center manager at National City Bank. In 2009, she continued this trajectory by joining UMB Bank in Overland Park, Kansas, holding the same title. Finally, shifting gears towards regulatory aspects of finance, she transitioned into bank compliance in 2024 when she began working as a financial crimes investigator at Hawthorn Bank in Lee’s Summit. Her credentials include being a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist along with certifications in fraud prevention and BSA/AML compliance from the American Bankers Association.

Bradford An individual proficient in both English and Spanish started their mortgage career in 2000 at H&R Block Mortgage. By 2008, she had advanced to become a mortgage loan officer at Quicken Loans. Later, in 2011, she transitioned to Great Southern Bank as a mortgage loan processor. The following year, in 2015, she moved to Simmons Bank taking up the position of mortgage loan closer; then, in 2016, she shifted roles again when she joined Origin Bank in an identical capacity. That same year, she played a key part in launching Origin’s local Springfield branch and commenced originating mortgages as a full-fledged mortgage loan officer. Her professional journey continued into 2017, but it was in 2019 that she ventured out independently by opening branches with Hometown Lenders and Supreme Lending, assuming duties as both the branch manager and a productive lending officer. Most currently, she has been engaged as a mortgage loan originator at Stockmens Bank.

Walsh has joined Care to Learn as the Vice President of Development.

Care to Learn has named Rachael Walsh as its vice president of development, with her start date set for Wednesday, May 28.

Walsh will spearhead Care to Learn’s robust and outcome-focused fundraising plan in her new position. She aims to build strong donor connections, implement various development projects, and increase charitable contributions via individual donations, business collaborations, grant applications, and exclusive events.

Walsh joins Care to Learn after serving as the vice president of resource development at United Way of the Ozarks. She graduated from Missouri State University and is a former participant in Leadership Springfield. Walsh sits on the board for Better Block SGF and is actively involved with Southeast Rotary.

Mitchell transitions to resource development position at United Way

The United Way of the Ozarks has named Janelle Mitchell as its upcoming vice president for resource development. Since taking up her duties as director of resource development earlier this year, she will ascend to this new position starting from May 22, 2025, succeeding Rachael Walsh.

Mitchell, who graduated from Evangel University, formerly held the position of associate director at the Burrell Foundation. He also has experience in development at Victory Mission and established SingleMomzRock, an initiative aiding single mothers that later became part of a nationwide organization.

The Better Business Bureau provides scholarship opportunities.

The Better Business Bureau Springfield is currently taking applications for their Student of Ethics Award, which comes with a chance to earn a $2,500 scholarship. This accolade honors an outstanding high school student known for exhibiting ethical behavior via leadership roles, volunteer work, honesty, and strong scholastic performance.

High school juniors from southwest Missouri who are set to graduate in spring 2026 can apply for this accolade. Russell acquires O'Reilly Build

Based in Davenport, Iowa, Russell, a construction and development company, has finalized the purchase of Springfield-based O'Reilly Build, thereby opening its fourth national location. This move comes after Russell expanded into St. Louis in 2020 andKansas Cityin 2022.

The combined team is already working together on a housing project in Springfield, with a groundbreaking planned later this spring. The company's previously had worked together on a project in the St. Louis area, The Boulevard at St. Peters senior living community.
